Response From Bridget Sandrowicz

Hi Ron,

In Pennsylvania, we recently updated our Supported Employment Policy to include a specific service of Job Retention. If a customer who is struggling at their current employment, we can open their case and provide on the job support utilizing a job coach for up to 3 months of retention. If we close the case successful, and the customer needs additional support, our Supported Employment Policy supports individuals with Extended Follow Along Services (up to 10 hours per month for 2 years, one to one service). Of course, if someone has a waiver or other means of support we must first utilize that.

If an individual requires job retention services, but does not need a support person on the job, we discuss the difficulties with the customer and depending on what is the issue we work with the customer and employer to meet the needs. For example, if someone requires new or updated assistive technology, accessibility options, communication difficulties, etc…

Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss further.
